In Their Own Words

MICHELLE
Hi I’m Michelle Sweatt, of Inclined to Improvise. My passion is reclaiming, re-purposing, and re-imagining uses for the discarded and unwanted. My art is an expression of this passion. I am inspired by the challenge of restoring and/or reanimating objects that, at one time in their existence, were considered prized belongings to someone, but now find themselves either sitting on a dusty shelf in a thrift store or permanent fixtures in the landfill. I enjoy working with a variety of materials and finishes. Broken lamps and light fixtures tend to be a reoccurring theme in the things I create. But I love the challenge of working with new mediums… Everything has potential to be re-purposed… For me, discards and castoffs forge infinite possibilities for restoration.

TRACIE
Hi I'm Tracie Mallari, of Tracie's Paintbrush. I started painting 14 years ago as a creative outlet suggested by my mother, who has sketched and painted most of her life. I've been actively painting and learning ever since. At the onset of my career, painting in oil was where I found familiarity but as I've grown as an artist I find imagination and creative spirit in everything from oil and acrylic to watercolor and mixed media. Painting for kids has been a passion from the very beginning. Whimsicality is a theme that is present in most of my work but a blank canvas gives me limitless possibilities and that is a feeling I will never tire of.
